Sayenko Kharenko and Breathe Charity Fund supported the Girl Power Ukraine educational project as part of the Christmas campaign

09/ 05/ 2024
As part of the Christmas campaign, Sayenko Kharenko and the Breathe Charity Fund supported the Girl Power Ukraine educational project. The initiative has already held two meetings this year in Kyiv and Mena, Chernihiv region. In the future, the project will cover several other Ukrainian cities.  The Blagomay Charitable Fund launched the Girl Power Ukraine project in 2020. Its main goal is to help girls aged 13 to 18 from orphanages, boarding schools, centres for internally displaced persons, and large, low-income, and vulnerable families believe in their abilities, find themselves, learn to socialise and understand their rights and purpose.  The 20 bright and ambitious girls who participated in the intensive training in Mena experienced a transformative journey. They were equipped with self-education, personal effectiveness skills, and learning planning and time management techniques. The speakers’ focus on personal development and productivity left a lasting impression on the participants.  The project also addressed the issue of girls’ and women’s rights in overcoming domestic violence. In particular, the participants studied their rights, how to protect them, and ways to support victims of violence. The discussions also focused on the importance of healthy relationships and sexual self-determination, reproductive health and contraceptive methods. The girls also explored various aspects of the role of women in modern society.  Employment issues were also raised, as girls from social institutions need to understand the opportunities for development in different fields and professions, as well as leadership and career issues. The participants explored different professional paths and opportunities, creative and technical professions, art, media and more. They learned leadership, communication and conflict management skills and strategies for success in their careers and personal lives.  In Kyiv, 22 active girls took the course. They tried their hand at public speaking and acting, took a first aid course, and attended make-up and personal care workshops.  The educational programmes took place every weekend for six weeks.  “Recognising women’s profound impact on society, Sayenko Kharenko proudly stands behind The Women’s Empowerment Principles, spearheaded by the United Nations Global Compact and the Empowerment of Women. Committed to fostering a fairer and more equitable world, we’ve vowed to champion women and enact transformative measures. One of our proactive strides toward this mission is supporting educational initiatives for girls. Among these, we take great pride in backing the Girl Power Ukraine project. Our involvement transcends mere philanthropy; it’s an investment in tomorrow’s leaders. Through our backing, we pave the path toward a society that embraces diversity and empowerment. We firmly believe that our support will empower every girl to recognise her inherent value and surmount any obstacles in her path,” – commented Nazar Chernyavsky, partner at Sayenko Kharenko.  “Participating in the project and learning new information is very interesting. I learned how to prevent violence and what to do when you see such situations,” – Kateryna, a project participant, shared her impressions.  Every girl, regardless of her social achievements, is unique. Girls need to be believed in and supported. The Girl Power Ukraine project can provide this belief and support. Thanks to the financial assistance of Sayenko Kharenko and the Breathe Charity Fund, this project was successfully implemented and has started preparing future initiatives.
