Redcliffe Partners won the CEE Legal Matters Deal of the Year award for Ukraine at 2019 Deal of the Year Awards Banquet in Budapest for the firm’s work on SALIC’s 2018 Acquisition of Mriya Agro Holding.

“The significance of that deal was, ultimately, impossible for the two tiers of voters to ignore, and Redcliffe Partners obviously played a fundamental role in making it happen,” said CEE Legal Matters Executive Editor David Stuckey. “We were pleased that the voters recognized the deal’s significance, and delighted to have Redcliffe’s Managing Partner Olexiy Soshenko at the event and able to accept it in person.”

The matter involved lawyers from Redcliffe’s Corporate and M&A, Banking and Finance, Antitrust and Real Estate practices, please find more detailed information by the link.

Zoryana Sozanska-Matviychuk, Partner and Head of the M&A practice, comments to CEE Legal Matters: “To me, this transaction is the most complex and challenging transaction I have done to date. This project was very non-static, from the due diligence stage and all the way till closing. Ukraine needs more deals like the SALIC/Mriya deal. It sends a very good message to other potential investors who may be hesitant to do business in Ukraine. Agriculture is big in Ukraine so more investment in the agricultural sectors would, in my humble view, be good for the economy overall.”

Finalists for the prestigious and peer-selected CEE Deal of the Year Awards were selected by a panel of highly-regarded private practitioners in each country, with winners determined by a second group of prominent legal experts from across Central and Eastern Europe. Deals submitted for consideration were signed in the 2018 calendar year, and the panels based their determinations on deal complexity, market (and regional) significance, and value, among other factors.
