Navigating Global Goals: ENGin’s Journey Towards UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030

07/ 03/ 2025
As we approach the halfway point of the journey to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) by 2030, the world is at a critical juncture. Adopted by world leaders in 2015, the 17 SDGs are a blueprint for a better, more sustainable future. However, unexpected global challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war in Ukraine, have changed the landscape in which we follow these goals. At ENGin, we believe in the power of education, inclusion, and international collaboration to achieve meaningful change. Our mission - to ensure that every Ukrainian can speak English with confidence - is inextricably linked to several of the UNs Sustainable Development Goals. Through our work, we are contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future. SDG 4: Quality education Education is the foundation of sustainable development, and at ENGin we are committed to breaking down barriers to learning. We go beyond language proficiency by promoting a well-rounded education through strategic partnerships with leading platforms such as Coursera and Udemy. By providing free access to a variety of educational resources, we foster curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning among Ukrainians. Our program equips students with the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. SDG 5: Gender equality As an organization founded on strong female leadership, ENGin exemplifies the power of gender equality. We create an inclusive environment where opportunities are available to everyone, regardless of gender. In particular, the majority of our volunteers and students are women, which underscores our commitment to empowering women through education and professional development. By fostering a community that values and supports womens voices, we are helping to shape the future leaders who will drive change on a global scale. SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth Language skills are key to economic empowerment, and ENGin plays a vital role in preparing Ukrainians for the global labor market. By improving their English language proficiency, we provide them with a critical skill set that opens the door to international employment, entrepreneurship, and career opportunities. Our initiative supports economic growth by helping people get stable jobs and contribute to the Ukrainian and global economy, which is especially important as Ukraine overcomes the challenges of war and post-war recovery. SDG 17: Partner to achieve the goals Collaboration is at the heart of ENGins mission. Our global network connects Ukrainian students with English-speaking volunteers, creating a powerful model of international cooperation. These partnerships transcend borders, promoting intercultural understanding, empathy, and global citizenship. Through these connections, we not only improve language proficiency, but also contribute to a peaceful and prosperous world. In addition, at ENGin, we build strong partnerships with organizations that are also interested in supporting Ukrainians. For example, thanks to the help of Nova Ukraine, we have been able to run our subprogram for Ukrainian English teachers for two years now. Committed to a sustainable future As we continue our journey to 2030, ENGin remains steadfast in our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We recognize that sustainable development is a collective effort, and we are proud that our mission is aligned with global goals that promote education, equality, economic growth, and cooperation. Together, we can build a future where language is not a barrier but a bridge that connects people, strengthens economies, and creates opportunities for all. By investing in education and fostering international partnerships, we are not just changing lives, we are shaping a better world. Join ENGins mission to empower Ukrainians and contribute to a sustainable, inclusive future. Together we can change the world for the better.
