Place: Will be online. Registration is closed! There are more than six months until the event, and our lives and the relevance of topics change every day. That is why we decided not to choose the topic now, but to determine it a few weeks before our meeting. EBA Management Development Centre team, together with Petro Chornomorets, invite you to participate in the Online-Lecture: Motivation Challenges. Laziness and Procrastination. Resilience and Self-Care. Motivation Challenges Work with motivation is usually approached through simple models such as “positive vs. negative” or “external vs. internal,” while laziness is often seen as merely a lack of motivation that can be solved by adding intensity. In reality, the system is much more complex and fascinating. Even at the level of biochemical processes, we can identify at least seven dimensions and create an optimal motivation profile. Questions for discussion: How does our motivation work, and why do we do or avoid doing certain things? Why do we take on tasks we cannot complete? Why do standard motivation methods not only fail to help but also damage the working environment? Why is strong motivation often a path to poor decisions and burnout? How does motivation influence creativity? Laziness and Procrastination There is always a reason for laziness. If we try to deal with the problem without understanding its causes, it will be: Ineffective. Appearing effective at first, but not for long. Seemingly effective, but undermining the strategic stability of the entire system. For example, the majority of Ukrainians do not engage in learning after finishing school or university, or they do so only under compulsion. Why? Because learning is usually associated with boredom, constant pressure, and results that are either absent or not worth the effort. Another example: most Ukrainians do not maintain a healthy lifestyle. One key reason is that unhealthy habits are linked to freedom and pleasure, while healthy ones are seen as requirements, restrictions, and endurance. Questions for discussion: Basic mechanisms of motivation. Causes of laziness. Resilience and Self-Care Noradrenaline and adrenaline suppress the prefrontal cortex. This means that a stressed person struggles to think clearly, applies distorted criteria in decision-making, and often makes mistakes. If this person is in a leadership role, the cost of such mistakes increases significantly, and their state directly affects the entire team. The foundation of a leader’s resilience is their quality of life. Questions for discussion: Six neurotransmitters and hormones that regulate our mental processes. A checklist for daily and weekly self-care. Non-obvious solutions for team stability and support. Why different sources of joy are not interchangeable, how light influences productivity, and how trust impacts resilience. Registration is obligatory.

Motivation Challenges

Work with motivation is usually approached through simple models such as “positive vs. negative” or “external vs. internal,” while laziness is often seen as merely a lack of motivation that can be solved by adding intensity. In reality, the system is much more complex and fascinating. Even at the level of biochemical processes, we can identify at least seven dimensions and create an optimal motivation profile.

Questions for discussion:

  • How does our motivation work, and why do we do or avoid doing certain things?
  • Why do we take on tasks we cannot complete?
  • Why do standard motivation methods not only fail to help but also damage the working environment?
  • Why is strong motivation often a path to poor decisions and burnout?
  • How does motivation influence creativity?

Laziness and Procrastination

There is always a reason for laziness.

If we try to deal with the problem without understanding its causes, it will be:

  • Ineffective.
  • Appearing effective at first, but not for long.
  • Seemingly effective, but undermining the strategic stability of the entire system.

Questions for discussion:

  • Basic mechanisms of motivation.
  • Causes of laziness.

Resilience and Self-Care

Noradrenaline and adrenaline suppress the prefrontal cortex. This means that a stressed person struggles to think clearly, applies distorted criteria in decision-making, and often makes mistakes. If this person is in a leadership role, the cost of such mistakes increases significantly, and their state directly affects the entire team.

The foundation of a leader’s resilience is their quality of life.

Questions for discussion:

  • Six neurotransmitters and hormones that regulate our mental processes.
  • A checklist for daily and weekly self-care.
  • Non-obvious solutions for team stability and support.
  • Why different sources of joy are not interchangeable, how light influences productivity, and how trust impacts resilience.

Registration is obligatory. To become a participant, please, click the “Register” button. Only the users of the EBA site can register at the event. Should you have any questions, please, write at [email protected] or call (044) 496-06-01.
