EBA and the German Embassy discussed prospects for cooperation in the agri-food sector

  The European Business Association’s Food Committee met with representatives of the German Embassy to discuss prospects for further cooperation between Ukrainian and German agri-food companies, including opportunities for exchanging expertise and experience. Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the European integration of Ukraine’s food industry and related sectors. Other topics included the regulation of food contact materials, the exchange of experience in waste management, including food waste and packaging materials, and their subsequent recycling. Representatives of the Food Committee also provided an update on the current situation in the Ukrainian market and the challenges facing the food industry today. The discussion covered logistical difficulties and the availability of warehouse infrastructure, as well as the need to adapt veterinary and legal requirements for the import of food products of animal origin and to simplify and optimise cross-border control procedures from a logistics perspective. Participants emphasised the importance of continued cooperation with neighbouring countries to ensure more efficient and predictable movement of goods across the border. Following the meeting, the participants agreed to continue joint work on European integration and to promote stronger cooperation between Ukrainian and German businesses.
