The European Business Association welcomes the Verkhovna Rada’s adoption at first reading of Draft Law No. 16051-1, which provides for the abolition of preferential tax treatment for international shipments containing goods worth up to €150. The business community has consistently supported the abolition of this exemption and has called on members of parliament to adopt the relevant legislative changes. The introduction of uniform approaches to the taxation of imported goods will help create fairer conditions for competition and reduce opportunities to use the exemption to avoid taxation. It is also important to harmonise Ukraine’s e-commerce taxation rules with the approach of the European Union, which abolished a similar VAT exemption in 2021. The Association thanks members of parliament for supporting the draft law and for their consistent efforts to establish equal and transparent competitive conditions for Ukrainian businesses.
