On July 16, the Kharkiv Office of the European Business Association (EBA), in partnership with the law firm Prikhodko & Partners, resumed the activities of its Legal Committee. The topic of the first meeting was Intellectual Property During Wartime: Are Your Businesss Key Assets Protected Speakers: Dmytro Zal, Attorney-at-Law, Civil Law Practice; Anatolii Perepelchenko, Attorney-at-Law, Chair of the Legal Committee of the EBA Kharkiv Office. During the meeting, the experts addressed current issues related to the protection of intellectual property under martial law and emphasized the importance of systematic management of intellectual property assets, even in times of crisis. Participants discussed which intellectual property assets require priority protection, how to verify ownership of rights to trademarks, logos, designs, websites, content, and technical solutions, as well as the legal risks that may arise from the improper registration or documentation of such rights. Particular attention was paid to trademark registration, copyright protection, the patenting of inventions and utility models, the allocation of intellectual property rights between employees and contractors for works they create, and practical approaches to protecting businesses against the copying of products, designs, and content. The speakers also highlighted that conducting a timely intellectual property audit helps identify potential risks, prevent disputes over ownership of key business assets, and strengthen a companys position when attracting investment, selling a business, or entering new markets.
