EBA Food Committee and Ukrainian Food Banks Federation discussed food waste management

  A meeting of the Food Committee of the European Business Association was held with Alyona Hrebenchukova, Development Director of the Ukrainian Food Banks Federation (UFBF) and an expert at UFBF Andrii Tupchii, as well as a representative of the European Food Banks Federation — Sofiia Vara. During the meeting, participants discussed European practices and experience in food redistribution across EU countries, as well as the regulatory framework governing food waste management, drawing on examples from France, Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic. Attention was also given to Directive 2025/1892 of the European Parliament and of the Council dated 10 September 2025. Representatives of UFBF also presented a draft law on food banks. It was agreed that the Association’s experts will contribute to the analysis of this document. The discussion also covered legislative initiatives in the food sector, including: the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On approval of the Procedure for state registration of sanitary measures facilities, as well as requirements for the form and content of documents” (concerning the issuance of permits for food additives, food enzymes and food flavourings); the draft order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine “On approval of criteria for classifying drinking water as ‘natural mineral water’”. In addition, participants addressed issues related to materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, as well as the eFood project, among others.
