12/ 05/ 2026
Hanna Petkun and Tetiana Shyrochenko, Committee Managers at the European Business Association, together with Andrii Orobchuk, representative of the Animal Health Committee, held a meeting with representatives of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and the EU4SaferFood project. Representatives of the Association discussed with European partners the current state of legislation in the field of veterinary medicine, the development of secondary legislation, and the key challenges related to the implementation of the new regulatory framework. Particular attention was paid to the recognition of EU GMP certificates and Ukraine’s readiness to launch a pharmacovigilance system. In addition, the discussion covered the Law of Ukraine “On Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food Products” No. 2718-IX and its practical implementation. In accordance with the Law, manufacturers, importers, and other market operators are already required to adapt to the principles of good manufacturing practice, prepare and provide declarations of compliance, and comply with requirements related to state registration, traceability, and proper labelling. Following the meeting, the parties agreed that, within the framework of the EU4SaferFood project, European partners would organise training webinars for Ukrainian businesses and public sector representatives aimed at sharing European best practices in the field of food contact materials and articles. The participants also reaffirmed the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation to further harmonise Ukrainian legislation with European approaches.
