BDO in Ukraine brought together over 400 participants at a Japanese-Ukrainian online seminar on advanced IT technologies

17/ 11/ 2025
Kyiv, October 29, 2025 — A two-day international online seminar Advanced IT Technologies and Their Industrial Applications - Toward International Collaboration with Ukrainian IT Professionals brought together leading experts, academics, and students from Japan, Poland and Ukraine to discuss the latest innovations in information technology and their applications across industry and education. Organized by JDS - Japan Development Service, Ltd. in partnership with BDO in Ukraine as the local coordinator under the Ukrainian IT Human Resource Development Support Project supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the event became a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between Ukrainian and international IT communities. At its peak, the webinar gathered over 400 participants simultaneously, including representatives of Ukrainian universities, professors, students, and IT professionals. Before the event, BDO in Ukraine supported JDS in completing a targeted survey among IT faculties of the top 20 Ukrainian universities, identifying their current needs, challenges, and priorities for international cooperation. The insights from this research shaped the program’s agenda, ensuring its practical value for academia and industry alike. BDO in Ukraine was also in charge of the organization and moderation of the webinar, led by Vira Savchenko, who guided both days of the event and moderated the discussions with international speakers. The first day featured two thematic tracks — Technical Track and Industry and Society Track — focused on innovation in IT and its integration into real-world contexts. Professors and experts covered topics such as quantum technology, bioinformatics, factory science, and Metaverse and city promotion. The session was opened with welcoming remarks from Mr. Vitaliy Nosok, Head of the Expert Group on Technological Development, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The second day focused on Business Collaboration and International Collaborative Education.  Representatives from companies in the field of drug discovery, IT/AI, and heating/ventilation, professors, and governmental agencies demonstrated how technological expertise and academic cooperation can jointly support Ukraine’s reconstruction and digital transformation. The event concluded with an announcement of the upcoming training program for university lecturers — “Implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) within the JICA Initiative,” starting in November 2025.
