JT Group Presents Its Integrated Sustainability Report: 40-Year Highlights and 2024 Results

20/ 10/ 2025
JT Group, which includes JTI Ukraine, has published its annual Integrated Sustainability Report. This year’s document summarises the Group’s 40-year history and demonstrates how its long-term responsibility strategy is transforming its business model and interactions with communities, society, and the environment.  The cornerstone of the strategy is the 4S model, which balances the interests of consumers, employees, shareholders, and society. Masamichi Terabatake, President and CEO of JT Group, stated: ‘Guided by the 4S model, we strive to ensure that business growth goes hand in hand with a positive impact on communities and the environment’.  JT Group pursues an approach built around five key pillars of sustainable development. For six consecutive years, the Group has been included in the global Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) rating regarded as the ‘gold standard’ in environmental reporting. JT Group has earned an A List rating for climate leadership [1] and has its targets validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) [2].  Key results in 2024:  Climate and Environment. The company reduced its emissions by 33%, shifted 56% of its electricity consumption to renewable sources, and ensured that 91% of its packaging is recyclable.   Products and Innovation. The development of the Reduced-Risk Products category expanded to 28 markets. More than 70 scientific studies on product properties were published in open access. The principle of circularity is also being implemented: 17% of packaging is now made from recycled materials, and new devices are being designed with replaceable batteries.  People and Inclusion. Women hold 26.8% of managerial positions. For 11 consecutive years, the company has been recognised as a Global Top Employer, and its team brings together more than 100 nationalities.  Supply Chains. 99.6% of partners are assessed against ESG criteria, and JT Group is listed among CDP’s Supplier Engagement Leaders.  Communities. Since 2015, the company has allocated more than USD 548 million to support around 6,000 organisations, providing assistance to over 27 million people worldwide.  JT Group’s global strategy is adapted to the needs of each market, taking into account its context and challenges.  JTI Ukraine implements these approaches across the key areas of sustainable development—from environmental initiatives and production innovations to community support and inclusion.  At the factory in Kremenchuk, more than 60% of waste is recycled, while water reuse accounts for 5%. In terms of inclusion, JTI Ukraine ranks among the Top 5 employers in the Corporate Equality Index, with 5 out of 7 of the company’s top managers being women. To support employees, communities, and people affected by the war during the period 2022–2025, JTI has allocated more than 500 million. ‘Despite the challenges, we are implementing projects that support communities, protect the environment, and strengthen business transparency. Our contribution has a tangible impact on the country where we live and work’, emphasised Andrii Fita, Deputy General Director for Corporate Affairs and Communications at JTI Ukraine.   [1] CDP A List is the ranking of the leading environmental platform, the Carbon Disclosure Project, which recognises companies with the highest performance in transparency and climate risk management. [2] The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an international initiative that helps companies set GHG reduction targets in line with the Paris Climate Agreement and scientific evidence. SBTi validation means that a company’s climate targets are recognised as science-based and aligned with global sustainability standards.
