CyberBBQ: Business in the Crosshairs — How to Counter Threats with EBA and FS Group

27/ 08/ 2025
Amid a full-scale war and growing digital threats, Ukrainian companies face daily attacks on their servers, financial systems, and internal databases. Continuing the successful CyberBBQ tradition, on August 27, 2025, EBA Odesa in partnership with FS Group, held another specialized meeting dedicated to cybersecurity for businesses.  The event was opened by Kateryna Morozova, Head of the EBA Southern Ukrainian Office and Serhii Yevchuk, CEO of FS Group and member of the EBA Coordination Council in Odesa. They emphasized that successful business protection is not only about technology but also about strategic planning and improving the cyber hygiene of teams.  Key topics of discussion included:  modern cyber threats and their potential actors;  practical cases of companies already countering attacks;  simple yet effective solutions to enhance the security of systems and employees.  During the discussion on cyber hygiene, the threat of infostealers—malicious programs that silently steal corporate and personal data—was also explored. Participants learned which types of information are most often targeted (passwords, financial data, work files), how infostealers infiltrate systems, and which preventive measures help minimize risks. The interactive part of the event allowed attendees to strengthen their cybersecurity knowledge through an engaging quiz. The meeting concluded with networking over wine and steaks, where guests had the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and discuss strategies for protecting their businesses.  Attendees received not only basic recommendations—such as using multi-factor authentication, regular system backups, and routine testing—but also deeper guidance on building a security culture within companies. This included conducting regular employee training, fostering a conscious approach to risk, creating internal incident response protocols, and collaborating with cybersecurity experts.
