Children of Heroes CF Holds “The Umbrella of Childhood” Exhibition in the Capital’s Metro

03/ 06/ 2025
To mark International Childrens Day, the Children of Heroes Charity Foundation has opened an exhibition of childrens drawings in Kyiv as part of its “Umbrella of Childhood” campaign. The exhibition is located in the lobby of the Zoloti Vorota metro station and will run until June 12. It aims to draw attention to the needs and dreams of children affected by the war. It features drawings by children from across Ukraine—beneficiaries of the Fund who have lost one or both parents due to the war. Through their artwork, these children express what they have lived through: from the pain of loss to hope for a new, peaceful life. Through these drawings, we can glimpse into the inner world of a child who has lost the most precious thing. Despite the pain and fear, there is still a spark of hope. But that world needs light, love, and support. War only destroys — it’s up to us to heal. These children are our future. And we not only can, but must help this generation grow strong, grounded, and confident enough to build a better tomorrow, said Tetiana Novytska, CEO of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund. The drawings offer a raw, honest look at how the full-scale war has impacted even the youngest children: bright colors give way to darker themes, fairy-tale characters are replaced with images of loss, separation, and pain. And yet, despite it all, their art still holds space for hope, kindness, and love. The Children of Heroes Charity Fund supports children who have lost one or both parents due to the war — helping them navigate grief, believe in themselves, continue their education, and develop their talents. Exhibitions like this are also part of that support: a chance to give children a voice and make sure it is heard.
