An additional protocol to the e-CMR Convention has entered into force

26/ 10/ 2020
The electronic document management provider EDIN announces that on October 8, 2020, the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CIT) on an electronic consignment note entered into force. This Convention has been ratified by most European countries, as well as a number of other countries. Shipping companies, drivers and consignees use the CMR consignment note, which contains information on transfers of goods, transport companies and recipient countries. Until recently, CMR invoices existed exclusively in paper form. Thanks to the digital format, e-CMR invoices can be easily combined with other services needed by transport companies, such as customs declaration or fleet management services. With the transition to electronic invoices, all three parties involved in the freight process will benefit from increased efficiency of logistics processes in general, which will increase competitiveness.
