Ukraine-Luxembourg Business Club to host Business Forum on the Rapid Recovery of Ukraine with a Gala Fundraising Dinner

06/ 01/ 2023
Tuesday, 31 January 2023, 9:00–18:00, Abbaye de Neumünster 28, rue Münster L-2160 Luxembourg Although the war in Ukraine is far from over, planning has begun for the post-war period. Ukraine plans a structural transformation that is unprecedented in modern history. Ukraine’s reconstruction and renewal will present singular opportunities for investors. It will also present unique investment risks. Post-war investment in Ukraine raises serious commercial, legal and technical questions, issues of coordination with public financiers and policymakers, and reform requirements within Ukraine. The Ukraine-Luxembourg Business Club, in collaboration with its sponsors and partners, is hosting a Forum to examine those challenges on 31 January 2023. This work should begin now, so that bottlenecks can be rigorously identified and addressed, and funds can flow promptly whenever conditions on the ground allow. View the Agenda The Forum will present diverse stakeholder perspectives by bringing together Ukrainian and Luxembourg businesses and direct investors in Ukraine, members of the international investor community and Luxembourg’s funds industry, and multilateral lenders. Prime Minister Bettel will open the forum. Ukrainian ministers, members of the Ukrainian parliament and Ukrainian business leaders will attend to explain investment needs and opportunities, and the plans for economic and social reform, including EU accession. The conference will be delivered under the patronage of the office of the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, in cooperation with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and headline sponsors headquartered in Luxembourg: ArcelorMittal (the main sponsor, and the largest foreign direct investor in Ukraine), the European Investment Bank (the world’s largest multilateral lender, with operations in Ukraine), Clearstream (which offers the only infrastructure-to-infrastructure settlement link to Ukraine), and others. With its financial market infrastructure that supports the asset management industry globally, and its range of European institutions essential to the public aspects of Ukrainian reconstruction, Luxembourg is ideally positioned for this discussion. Panels (9:00-17:00, 31 January 2023) The full-day panel agenda will indicatively cover measures related to strengthening Ukraine’s investment environment including reconstructing basic and social infrastructure, opportunities in the technology and agriculture spaces, deepening financial markets, and regulatory and rule of law reforms. Further panels will consider issues for investors such as coordinating public and private efforts, ESG considerations, corporate governance, instrument design, and country risk. Registration and agenda details are available at https://ulbc.lu. ! Please note that in order to attend the Business Forum and/or Gala Charity dinner, attendees should fill in the registration using the link below before 27 January 2023 Registration onsite will not be possible.  BUSINESS FORUM RAPID RECOVERY OF UKRAINE - 31 JANUARY 2023 Gala fundraising dinner (from 19:00, 31 January 2023, Cercle Cité) The Forum will conclude with a gala charity dinner on 31 January, featuring Ukrainian performers and artists at Cercle Cité in Luxembourg City.
