On 21 October, the European Business Association held a meeting of its Electronic Payments Committee with representatives of the National Bank of Ukraine \u2013 Oleksii Shaban, Deputy Governor of the NBU, and Andrii Poddierohin, Director of the NBU\u2019s Department of Payment Systems and Innovative Development. The discussion focused on the prospects for developing national payment solutions and further steps to improve Ukraine\u2019s payment infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Particular attention was paid to the future regulation of interbank fees (interchange fees) and alignment with European approaches. Participants also discussed the need to prepare the Association\u2019s position on Draft Law No. 14327-\u0434, which aims to bring Ukrainian legislation into line with European Union requirements and the criteria of the European Payments Council for Ukraine\u2019s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).<\/p>\n
In addition, the participants agreed on a list of topics for future thematic working meetings with NBU representatives to examine business-relevant issues in greater depth.<\/p>\n
An important outcome of the meeting was the decision to rename the Association\u2019s Electronic Payments Committee as the Banking, Financial Technology and Payments Committee<\/strong>. This change reflects the Committee\u2019s expanding strategic objectives and priorities, as well as the need for a comprehensive approach to financial sector development. It is also a logical response to the transformation of the financial sector, where banking services, financial technologies and payment solutions are becoming increasingly integrated.<\/p>\n The European Business Association thanks the National Bank of Ukraine team for an open and constructive dialogue.
