Arbutzinka, Mykolaiv Oblast<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arbuzyn Lyceum No. 2 named after T.G. Shevchenko, which accommodates around 500 children<\/strong>, has launched its new academic year powered by solar energy. The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation has installed a hybrid solar power station at the educational facility. The new system will cover up to 86% of the lyceum’s annual electricity needs, ensuring uninterrupted learning during blackouts and saving the local community over<\/strong> \u20ac10,000 annually<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Last winter, severe Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure left Arbuzynka facing multi-day blackouts. The lack of electricity caused the school\u2019s heating plant to shut down, forcing the lyceum to shift students to remote learning. This year, the facility enters the school term equipped with its own solar generation and energy storage system.<\/p>\n

The installed hybrid solar power station features a capacity of 30 kW alongside a 31 kWh energy storage system. It is expected to generate approximately 48 MWh of electricity per year.<\/p>\n
