Participants reviewed the proposed legislative framework and provided recommendations on its practical application in the market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The discussion was attended by Oleh Bondarenko, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Key issues discussed included:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>the liability of Ukrainian market operators for violations of the rules governing the placing on the market of commodities covered by the deforestation and forest degradation prevention framework (EUDR) before Ukraine becomes a full member of the EU;<\/li>\n<li>the specific features of commodity circulation where goods are mixed and new batches are formed;<\/li>\n<li>differentiating controls over the circulation of commodities depending on the type of operation, including import, sale within Ukraine and export;<\/li>\n<li>other business-related issues and proposals for improving the draft law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">For businesses, it is important that the future regulatory framework for combating deforestation is clear, proportionate and practical, and that requirements for market operators take into account the specific features of supply chains and the different types of transactions involving the relevant commodities.<\/p>\n<p>The Association will continue its dialogue with public authorities to improve the legislation and develop an effective and predictable regulatory environment.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Representatives of the European Business Association took part in a roundtable discussion on Draft Law No. 15352 \u201cOn the Circulation of Commodities Associated with Deforestation and\/or Forest Degradation\u201d.
