Vietnamese manufacturers are taking an increasingly active role in major projects worldwide. But producing equipmentis only part of the challenge: delivering it across continents requires careful planning, project logistics expertise and close coordination from start to finish.<\/p>\n
One of Vietnam\u2019s largest steel fabricators appointed Ahlers Logistics to manage a series of shipments for a major gas development in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique. The structures formed part of one of Africa\u2019s largest energy projects and had to arrive in line with strict delivery requirements.<\/p>\n
Coordinating the Journey from Vietnam<\/strong><\/p>\n Ahlers team in Vietnam managed the operation from the customer\u2019s production site through to the final transfer at Palma Bay. The scope included oversized transport to the Vietnamese port, engineering preparation, loading supervision, export formalities, ocean freight and coordination at destination.<\/p>\n Finding the right vessel was one of the first challenges. Capacity to Africa was limited, while port congestion left little flexibility in the schedule. Ahlers\u2019 in-house chartering desk managed to identify a suitable solution based on the cargo specifications and project timeline.<\/p>\n The dimensions and shape of the structures also required careful preparation. Th team reviewed how each piece would be lifted, supported and secured throughout the journey, but also supervised loading at the customer\u2019s site.<\/p>\n A Complex Final Transfer<\/strong><\/p>\n Coordination continued throughout the voyage with the vessel operator, port teams and local partners in Mozambique. Import procedures and final delivery arrangements were prepared in parallel to keep every stage aligned.<\/p>\n The most demanding part of the operation came at Palma Bay, where the structures had to be transferred directly from the vessel onto a barge. With little room for adjustment, the lifting sequence, cargo positioning and securing arrangements were planned well in advance.<\/p>\n Ahlers brought together its project logistics experience, local team in Vietnam, engineering and chartering capabilities, and destination partners in Africa to manage every stage of the shipment.
