The European Business Association once again stresses the need to review Ukraine\u2019s Second Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC-2) under the Paris Agreement, taking into account the realities of wartime and the current state of the national economy.<\/p>\n

According to experts from the EBA Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee, over the past three years, the key driver of carbon emissions in Ukraine has been the ongoing war rather than business activity. Therefore, the business community is convinced that Ukraine\u2019s climate goals require revision and adaptation, they must remain realistic, achievable, and practically implementable.<\/p>\n

To this end, the business community has once again appealed to the Government of Ukraine, urging it to adapt the country\u2019s climate commitments to current wartime and economic conditions. Furthermore, the Association has informed the European Commission of the Ukrainian business community\u2019s position and approach to shaping updated climate goals that will take existing challenges into account and contribute to further economic recovery.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee prepared an analytical study entitled \u201cEstablishing and Implementing the Nationally Determined Contribution while Preserving the Ukrainian Economy: Key Challenges and Solutions.\u201d<\/a> The document contains a series of practical recommendations aimed at achieving a balance between environmental commitments and the country\u2019s economic resilience.<\/p>\n

The European Business Association hopes that the business community\u2019s position will be duly considered in the further development of Ukraine\u2019s climate policy.<\/p>\n
