<\/span>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\nOn 15 October, the European Business Association held a meeting with Vitalii Zaichenko, Chairman of the Management Board of NPC \u201cUkrenergo\u201d<\/strong>, during which participants discussed pressing challenges and expectations regarding Ukraine\u2019s energy supply for 2025\u20132026.<\/p>\nMr Zaichenko informed that preparations for the power grid for the winter<\/strong> began immediately after the previous heating season ended and are proceeding according to schedule. In particular, the company has already accumulated a stockpile of high-voltage equipment amounting to around 300% of the standard level. In addition, most substations are now equipped with protection against UAVs and fragments of enemy missiles.<\/p>\nHe also highlighted the increase in fast reserve capacity within Ukraine\u2019s power system \u2014 new generation facilities built as a result of four specialised auctions for long-term procurement of ancillary services. Furthermore, long-term<\/strong> auctions for access to cross-border interconnections<\/strong> with Moldova have already been launched, with similar ones planned for other neighbouring countries. This will help reduce price volatility and make electricity imports and exports more predictable.<\/p>\nSpecial attention during the meeting was given to the balancing market<\/strong> and possible mechanisms for settling debts within it. The parties also discussed the implementation of guarantee payments for future capacity provision, new approaches to capacity reservation, and the potential organisation of additional specialised auctions.<\/p>\nRepresentatives of Ukrenergo stressed that the company supports initiatives to connect backup generating units<\/strong> installed by businesses and industries to the national grid, allowing them to participate in the electricity market. This would enable owners of such installations to earn profit while simultaneously supporting the energy system with additional generation during ongoing russian attacks.<\/p>\nThe European Business Association is grateful to Vitalii Zaichenko and the representatives of Ukrenergo for the open dialogue and will continue this discussion to find joint solutions aimed at ensuring the stable operation of the energy system and predictable conditions for business.<\/p>\n
