LTG Cargo Ukraine, a subsidiary of LTG Cargo, a freight forwarding company of LTG Group, is changing its business model: after previously providing freight forwarding services, LTG Cargo Ukraine has focused on rolling stock rental services, including wagons and locomotives, since September.<\/p>\n
“We founded LTG Cargo Ukraine in order to strengthen logistics and supply chains between Lithuania and Ukraine. There are almost 500 Lithuanian wagons in Ukraine, which will be handed over to LTG Cargo Ukraine and we will ensure their efficient use by renting them to customers. Railways remain a very important supply line for the warring countries, they need rolling stock, so in the future we will contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine in this way,”<\/em> says Egl\u0117 \u0160im\u0117, CEO of LTG Cargo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Say. This war, which began in 2022, slowed down the implementation of LTG Cargo Ukraine’s strategy, but later the company made a significant contribution to the creation of new logistics chains: when cargo got stuck on the roads at the Polish border, some of them were urgently transported by rail, new routes for grain transportation were created, and broad gauge railway (1520 mm) wagons were transported between the Baltic States and Ukraine via Poland.<\/p>\n “Since the start of the war in Ukraine, the flow of cargo has halved \u2013 from 314 million tons. tonnes in 2021 to 151 million tonnes. tonnes in 2022, but it has gradually increased in recent years. The country’s industry has adapted and is functioning, so rolling stock is needed for cargo transportation and work in the terminals. Most of the wagons we plan to rent are covered wagons that can be used to transport various cargoes, from construction materials to foodstuffs, and platforms for transporting containers,”<\/em> says Saulius Stasi\u016bnas, CEO of LTG Cargo Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In the autumn, it is planned to lease and transport to Ukraine two ChME3 shunting locomotives, which have been modernized at the LTG Cargo locomotive repair depot in Vilnius. These locomotives are likely to be rented for work in private terminals.<\/p>\n The rolling stock leased by LTG Cargo Ukraine will be expanded in the future so that the company can offer solutions that best meet the needs of Ukrainian businesses. Within two years, LTG Cargo Ukraine will be entrusted with the efficient use of 120 wagons, and it is planned to replenish the company’s fleet with 2 M62K trunk locomotives. With the emergence of new electric locomotives specially manufactured for transport in Lithuania, the fleet of LTG Cargo Ukraine could also be supplemented by diesel locomotives Siemens.<\/p>\n This year, LTG Cargo Ukraine became a member of the European Business Association operating in Ukraine, and the company was also included in the list of reliable Ukrainian taxpayers.
