The EBA Consumer Electronics Committee met with the First Deputy Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Maria Malaya and other representatives of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Maria Malaya shared the plans of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving to develop and adopt new technical regulations on the design and energy labelling of certain types of household appliances and equipment, based on the latest versions of the relevant EU regulations.<\/p>\n
“The implementation of these ambitious plans will allow us to cover the same list of energy-consuming goods in Ukraine as was covered by technical regulation in the EU as of March 2022,” commented Maria Malaya, First Deputy Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The participants also discussed the problem of using banned non-energy-efficient boilers that do not meet the requirements of the current technical regulations in Ukraine and effective ways to solve them.<\/p>\n
Among other issues, the parties reviewed plans for Ukraine’s accession to the EU energy consumption database. Such a database will contain a part open to consumers with information on the energy consumption of various types of equipment, as well as additional sections that will be available to representatives of market surveillance authorities. The EBA Consumer Electronics Committee member companies fully support this initiative and are ready to actively participate in the development of the necessary legislative changes.<\/p>\n
At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed the need to introduce support programs for people to switch to more energy-efficient equipment, such as circulation pumps, heat pumps, solar panels, and energy-efficient boilers, and the possibility of business and government cooperation in this regard.<\/p>\n
The EBA is sincerely grateful to the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving for a constructive and very substantive discussion and hopes that we will be able to make Ukraine more energy-independent and efficient with joint efforts of the state and business.<\/p>\n
