On September 12, the European Business Association held a meeting with representatives of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP). Andriy Vyshnevskyi, Deputy Chairman of the NACP, took part in the meeting within the EBA Committee on Reconstruction of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

An effective fight against corruption is an important prerequisite for attracting private investment and restoring the economy of Ukraine, and in this direction, NACP is one of the key players.<\/p>\n

Soon, the state program will be submitted for public discussion as a working tool for the implementation of this strategy, which will cover both general topics and specific sectors, for example, antimonopoly, regulatory policies, environmental, land sphere, etc. The Association’s experts will be involved in the work on this document and the relevant legal acts.<\/p>\n

At the same time, in order to effectively prevent corruption, the NACP conducts anti-corruption examinations and examinations of draft legal acts. In addition, NACP helps state and private organizations in developing a compliance system, provides support for the work of anti-corruption units in state authorities, and provides supervision and inspection of anti-corruption work.<\/p>\n

In addition, the military aggression against Ukraine forced NACP to expand its activities in accordance with the needs of the state. From the first days of the war, at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NACP joined the work on identifying persons and companies that should be sanctioned for facilitating the war. Among other things, NACP has created the “War & Sanctions” portal<\/a>, where it is possible to find individuals and legal entities that have already been sanctioned, their assets, a list of “candidates” for the imposition of sanctions, etc. Also, on the portal, it is possible to report on the assets of Russians contributing to the war, for their further confiscation in favor of Ukraine, as well as schemes to bypass the sanctions.<\/p>\n

As noted by the NAPC, businesses can use the “War&Sanctions” portal to check their counterparties or partners in order to avoid cooperation with individuals and companies that promote war.<\/p>\n

Finally, the issue of receiving payments by individual entrepreneurs currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was discussed with the representatives of NACP, as the information appeared that such actions could be considered corrupt. The NACP is currently preparing a detailed official response to the Association’s request on this issue. However, according to preliminary information, only individual entrepreneurs who obtained certain managerial or administrative positions in the Armed Forces will face such a risk.<\/p>\n
