On June 22, there was a cross-committee meeting of the European Business Association with Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. Participants had the opportunity to discuss the key draft laws related to the food industry that are currently being developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly, the draft law on materials and objects in contact with food, the draft law on plastic bags, the draft law on food safety and hygiene. As the abovementioned draft laws are important for eurointegration, they are planned to be discussed and voted on this summer \u2013 as reported by Taras Vysotsky.<\/p>\n
In the context of the eurointegration perspectives, Mr. Vysotsky informed that the Ministry would work actively to extend the abolition of duties and quotas for the entire period of application, as well as on further harmonization of legislation.<\/p>\n
To support the dairy industry, the Ministry of Agriculture is currently negotiating with the European Commission to provide grants of up to 50 million euros to small farmers and is considering applying for other international support programs.<\/p>\n
Mr. Vysotsky also said that in early July it is planned to revoke licenses for wheat exports. In order to open alternative logistics routes, the Ministry is negotiating with the countries on the use of the Baltic and Polish corridors for the export of agricultural products. We hope that some positive decisions in this direction will appear in the near future.<\/p>\n
Also in the near future, it is planned to differentiate the queues for the import of perishable goods at two checkpoints on the border with Poland – in Krakow and Yagodin.<\/p>\n
Another important issue discussed was the reservation of staff. The Government understands that reserving staff and the possibility of going abroad for men on working visits are extremely important issues for business. These possibilities are currently being discussed in the Government in order to work out and make proposals for resolving these issues in the first half of July. Also in this context, the issue of reservation and mobilization of agricultural machinery was discussed so that in the case of mobilization of such equipment for the needs of the armed forces \u2013 this does not interrupt the full production cycle.<\/p>\n
