draft Law \u21162207-1-d<\/a> On Waste Management in the second reading. This framework draft law provides for establishing a waste management system similar to the system currently in the member states of the European Union.<\/p>\nParticularly, the draft law establishes a framework for implementing the principle of extended producer responsibility that will be the key to solving a number of environmental problems and improving the situation with the accumulation of household waste. Thus, the draft law lays the foundations for separate waste collection, recycling, and further use. Thus, waste will be a resource that will open up opportunities to attract investment for separate collection and management systems, and not just a dangerous factor for the environmental situation in the country.<\/p>\n
The adopted framework draft law paves the way for developing and adopting sectoral laws regulating the management of various types of waste, such as packaging, batteries, etc.<\/p>\n
From the very beginning, the EBA experts took an active part in the development of this draft law and submitted many proposals to it \u2013 and a significant part of which was considered.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, despite the remarks of the business community and contrary to European practices, the scope of the framework law includes waste from the extractive industry, for which since 1975 the EU has always had a separate regulation.<\/p>\n
Therefore, the EBA is grateful to the Parliament and other stakeholders for taking this historic step, which brings us closer to the European Union, and we hope to develop bylaws as soon as possible, including a relevant draft law to address mining waste.<\/p>\n
