Member companies of the Health Care Committee of the European Business Association continue<\/a> to support Ukraine’s Healthcare System by providing humanitarian aid to the patients of Ukraine, which includes vital medicines and medical devices, as well as financial aid to charitable organizations and international foundations.<\/p>\n Since the onset of russia\u2019s aggression towards Ukraine, the EBA HCC pharmaceutical community, namely: Abbott, AbbVie, Adamed, Alcon, Arterium,<\/strong> Astellas,<\/strong> AstraZeneca, <\/strong>Bausch Health, Bayer, Berlin-<\/strong>Chemie, BMT<\/strong> Medical Technology S.R.O.,<\/strong> Boehringer Ingelheim<\/strong>, Darnitsa, Egis, Farmak, Gedeon Richter, GSK, Glenmark, Johnson&Johnson, MSD, Novartis, Orion Pharma, <\/strong>Pfizer, Philips,<\/strong> Polpharma, Reckitt Benckiser,<\/strong> Recordati,<\/strong> Roche<\/strong>, Sandoz, Sanofi<\/strong>, Santen,<\/strong> Servier, Takeda<\/strong>, Teva,<\/strong> U\u0421B, W\u00f6rwag Pharma <\/strong>provided about USD<\/strong> 172 million <\/strong>to Ukraine, which is more than UAH<\/strong> 5 billion 87 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n Abbott<\/a><\/strong> Foundation donated USD 2 million<\/strong> to the International Medical Corps<\/a>\u00a0to strengthen the infrastructure of Ukrainian pediatric hospitals. The Abbott Foundation also provided a USD 1 million<\/strong> grant<\/strong> to partner CARE<\/a> for successful integration of Ukrainian refugees, mostly women and children. Total monetary donations of the Abbott Foundation reached USD 5 million<\/strong>. Abbott also provides medicines, cardiac devices and diabetes medications of over USD 750<\/strong> thousand<\/strong> amount.<\/strong><\/p>\n AbbVie<\/a><\/strong> donated USD 1 million<\/strong> to the International Medical Corps and project \u201cHope\u201d for providing medical care and medical consumables for Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. AbbVie also provides essential medicines to the Government of Ukraine and disaster relief partners. The company doubled the amount donated by AbbVie Foundation employees to selected disaster relief partners, which are actively involved in providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n Adamed<\/a><\/strong> provided medicines and medical devices of over PLN 4.3 million<\/strong> amount and is coordinating on an ongoing basis with the Polish Government, state institutions (including the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves), local governments and disaster relief organizations. In the long-term future Adamed plans to direct financial aid to priority initiatives and support partner charitable organizations for consolidating efforts.<\/p>\n Alcon<\/a><\/strong> donated USD <\/strong>50<\/strong> thousand<\/strong> to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies via Alcon Foundation. The company provides the country with ophthalmic surgical materials in coordination with the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery\u00a0(ESCRS). Alcon donated medical devices of UAH 1,303,337<\/strong> amount to hospitals. The company continues to collect financial donations from partners.<\/p>\n Arterium<\/a><\/strong> provided medicines of its own production in the amount of UAH 17.7 million<\/strong> as humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n Astellas<\/a><\/strong> donated JPY<\/strong> 10 million <\/strong>to UNICEF to support the humanitarian efforts. The company also considers other charitable opportunities, including donations of essential medicines and fundraising. Astellas maintains ongoing partnerships with suppliers, distributors and key stakeholders to ensure continuous patient care.<\/p>\n AstraZeneca<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0contributed to Ukraine more than USD 10 million<\/strong> by providing the following:<\/p>\n Bausch Health<\/a> is committed to support victims of the war in Ukraine. The company is partnering with Global Giving non-profit organization in creating a microsite where employees make monetary donations to support the Ukrainians. Bausch Health supplies its medicines and medical devices to Ukrainian hospitals. A significant part of humanitarian aid is aimed at supporting Ukrainian refugees abroad.<\/p>\n Bayer<\/a> keeps supporting the population of Ukraine since the beginning of the russian invasion. The company contributed EUR 10 million<\/strong> to the following:<\/p>\n Berlin-Chemie<\/a><\/strong> total charitable contribution exceeds EUR 1 million. <\/strong>The company donated EUR<\/strong> 420 thousand<\/strong> to the Red Cross and company\u2019s employees worldwide donated almost EUR<\/strong> 60 thousand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n BMT<\/a><\/strong> MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY S.R.O.<\/strong> charitable contribution is about EUR<\/strong> 100 thousand<\/strong>. The company provided targeted aid directly to the Ukrainian hospitals upon their needs and transferred large-scale sterilization equipment.<\/p>\n Boehringer Ingelheim<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>donated<\/strong> EUR 2.5 million<\/strong> to charitable organizations, which provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine and its citizens. Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation provided over 14 thousand<\/strong> units<\/strong> of medicines<\/strong> of USD 5 million<\/strong> amount, specified for urgent needs by internal partners, including the Kharkiv City Council and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Darnitsa<\/a><\/strong> provided 600<\/strong> thousand medicine<\/strong> packages<\/strong> to medical institutions and volunteer organizations, that help Ukrainian military and civilian citizens. Medicines, produced by Darnitsa with a total value of UAH 26.6 million<\/strong> were donated to the Main Military Hospital, Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Hospital, Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No.17, National Heart Institute, Okhmatdyt, Transcarpathian Territorial Center for Emergency Medical Care, charitable foundations \u201cCome Back Alive\u201d and \u201cTabletochki\u201d, Zhytomyr City Council, Kozelets Intensive Care Hospital, military units. The company imported and handed over 10 thousand packages of strategic hemostatic<\/strong> to hospitals, TRO and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n Darnitsa resumed the production of strategically important medicine categories for the country and the Armed Forces of Ukraine such as: infusion solutions, ointments, tablets.<\/p>\n The company employees with a pharmaceutical education were sent as volunteer pharmacists to help pharmacy chains.<\/p>\n Egis<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in Hungary donated USD 5<\/strong>90\u00a0232<\/strong> to the patients of Ukraine. The company supplied the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with antiseptics, antidepressants, antimicrobials, cardiological medications and other medicines for emergency care in the amount of USD<\/strong> 10 thousand<\/strong>. The company offered further humanitarian aid of HUF 100 million<\/strong> and planned additional supplies of medicines to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.<\/p>\n Farmak<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the Zhebrovsky Family Charitable Foundation have been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the first days of the war in 2014. Medical equipment, protective structures, bulletproof vests, first aid kits and medicines were purchased and transferred before and after the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian occupiers. The total amount of humanitarian aid to medical institutions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, territorial defense, and citizens amounted to UAH 5.8 million<\/strong>. Moreover, since the first days of invasion Farmak has been providing logistics assistance to the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.<\/p>\n Gedeon Richter<\/a><\/strong> donated HUF\u00a010 million<\/strong> to the Charity Service of the Order of Malta and HUF<\/strong> 10 million <\/strong>to the charity initiative of the Hungarian public television “J\u00f3nak lenni j\u00f3” (“How good to be good”). The company provided humanitarian pharmaceutical aid from deliveries at a customs warehouse in Ukraine.<\/p>\n GlaxoSmithKline<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0donated GBP 3.25 million<\/strong> to the Red Cross and humanitarian organization \u201cSave the Children\u201d, and GBP 250<\/strong> thousand<\/strong> to company Crown Agents\u00a0Ltd for funding of 2.5 thousand first aid kits required by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. WHO antiretrovirals were donated through ViiV Healthcare GSK to the national AIDS programs and nonprofit partners to support conflict-affected children and adults with HIV. ViiV also contributed GBP 2<\/strong>00<\/strong> thousand<\/strong> via GlaxoSmithKline Affirmative Action programme. The company provided over 500<\/strong> thousand units<\/strong> of medicines and consumer products, including antibiotics, asthma medications, epilepsy medications and painkillers. GlaxoSmithKline employees worldwide donated over GBP <\/strong>300<\/strong> thousand<\/strong> to support organization \u201cSave the Children\u201d and the Red Cross.<\/p>\n Glenmark<\/a><\/strong> joined the humanitarian efforts and donated USD<\/strong> 350 thousand<\/strong>. <\/strong>The company provided 6.5 tons of medicines<\/strong> from Glenmark Europe Team. Glenmark plans to continue supplying medicines from India to help the patients of Ukraine.<\/p>\n Johnson&Johnson<\/a><\/strong> donated USD 10 million<\/strong> to support the work of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies to provide humanitarian aid to refugees in neighboring countries. The company provided hygiene kits, medical bags and medical devices. Johnson&Johnson cooperates with global health partners: International Health Partners (IHP, UK), Americares (USA), Direct Relief (USA), IFRC, Save the Children and UNICEF to support Ukrainians in the regions by granting them access to the network supply chain. Johnson&Johnson launched an unlimited collection program for global employees from the Global Giving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.<\/p>\n MSD<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>contributed over USD<\/strong> 65 million<\/strong> as humanitarian aid. USD 1 million<\/strong> was donated to the American Red Cross, Direct Relief, the International Medical Corps and project \u201cHope\u201d to provide emergency assistance to victims in the regions. The company delivers expensive medicines to Ukrainian citizens and refugees for the treatment of asthma, infections and oncological diseases. MSD provided animal vaccines from Merck Animal Health to Ukrainian farmers to support continued livestock and food production.<\/p>\n Novartis<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>joined humanitarian efforts and contributed USD <\/strong>3 million<\/strong> to three humanitarian organizations: the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Charitable Foundation \u201cSave the Children\u201d and the International Rescue Committee. The company is expanding its humanitarian activities by providing warehouse stocks of medicines within Ukraine, in particular, essential antibiotics and painkillers, as well as other products for medical institutions. In total the company provided about 600 thousand<\/strong> pack<\/strong>ages of <\/strong>medicines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Novartis in Ukraine is represented by\u00a0Sandoz Ukraine LLC<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Novartis Pharma Services AG<\/a>.<\/p>\n Orion Pharma<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0donated EUR<\/strong> 51 thousand<\/strong> to the Finnish Red Cross to help victims of the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n Pfizer<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0initiated a number of humanitarian events to increase the support of Ukraine. The Pfizer Foundation provided a USD 1 million<\/strong> humanitarian grant<\/strong> to organizations operating in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, including:<\/p>\n The Ukraine Humanitarian Disaster Relief Campaign launched to enable all Pfizer employees to provide charitable aid to the key organizations, that help victims of the conflict in Ukraine and neighboring countries. Pfizer provided emergency humanitarian aid to military hospitals and clinics upon request, as well as directed medicines to patients suffering from chronic diseases (R&D, cancer and cardiovascular diseases). The total aid amounted to USD<\/strong> \u00a02 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Philips<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0undertook major efforts to help the victims of russian aggression in the following areas:<\/p>\n Polpharma<\/a><\/strong> also joined the humanitarian efforts and initially provided 350<\/strong>\n

\nIn the nearest future the company plans to donate 12 monthly payments of EUR 1 million amount to Polish and German Red Cross organizations.
\nAn additional initiative by Boehringer Ingelheim is to consider the possibility of air transportation of cardiovascular, metabolic and respiratory medicines from the United States to Poland with further truck delivery to the Ukrainian border for the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and NGOs.<\/p>\n\n
