Despite hostilities, most EBA member companies keep up with their economic activities as much as they can. These include the import of critical non-food products to the Ukrainian market. For example, baby diapers, hygiene, and detergents, mobile phones and means of communications, heating, medical equipment, etc.<\/p>\n

Currently, when importing goods into Ukraine, in some cases it is not possible for businesses to label goods in the state language, due to hostilities in areas where there are warehouses with labels and means for re-marking goods.<\/p>\n

Late last week, the EBA asked the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection to clarify how to do business in such a situation.<\/p>\n

This week we have received clarification that companies, that are unable to comply with the requirements for the labelling of goods due to hostilities, may temporarily during the period of martial law, sell such goods without providing information about them in Ukrainian. Business is sincerely grateful for the prompt response of the Service to the request.<\/p>\n

Also, business is expecting the entry into force of draft law \u21167190<\/a> on April 1 (yet to be signed by the President of Ukraine) and CMU Resolution \u2116330<\/a>, which provide significant simplifications for business, including non-tariff regulation and the permits obtainment.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the business representatives do not fully understand how customs and inspection bodies interpret the provisions of the above documents. For example, whether it will be necessary to obtain permits, such as: licenses to import goods with fluorinated greenhouse gases, sanitary and epidemiological conclusions, certificates of conformity, etc., and whether the availability of these documents will be checked when selling such goods (eg, detergents, cosmetics, appliances, electronics, etc.) within the state. Therefore, the EBA has already made an official request to the Government and the relevant Ministries and agencies to provide clarifications so that they are equally understood by all market participants and government officials. We sincerely hope for a prompt response!<\/p>\n
