Sustainability Report 2019-2020<\/strong><\/a>. The way SoftServe responded to the pandemic, the numerous solutions we have created to help our customers and employees, and the massive response of our company and our people to help hospitals and local communities – all make me very proud of the company we\u2019ve built<\/em>,” comments Taras Vervega, co-founder, Member of the Board of Directors, SoftServe<\/strong>.<\/p>\nEquality and inclusivity<\/h3>\n
SoftServe continues to develop processes within the company that provide equal opportunities for any employee’s career development and growth. Building an environment of cooperation and respect for each other, intolerance to discrimination, equal opportunities for employees – this is what characterizes the company today.<\/p>\n
Starting in 2018, SoftServe made rapid progress on gender equality, as the number of women in managerial positions in the company increased from 35% in 2018 to 49% in 2020.<\/p>\n
In 2020, SoftServe launched an internal campaign on diversity and inclusion – DE&I Ambassadors training program. Additionally, in 2020, the company launched an open course on Accessibility Testing for visually impaired engineers, who are currently employees of the company, and a separate department engaged in testing and advising digital products for the blind.<\/p>\n
Mental and physical health<\/h3>\n
With the onset of the pandemic and the transition to remote work, SoftServe decided to involve each employee in discussing mental health. 9,500 people took part in cognitive and educational initiatives – from individual meetings and Mental Health Week to training programs and unique classes with coaches and psychologists.<\/p>\n
Due to the inability to visit offices and use office gyms to maintain the employees’ physical health, the company quickly offered an alternative – in the summer of 2020, SoftServe employees ran 13,574 km within the challenge between the company’s offices in different countries. The company also organized meetings informing about the details of regular health checks. Since 2019, the company has also launched insurance for all employees, including assistance to patients with COVID-19. 6,636 employees visited the doctor within the insurance in 2020.<\/p>\n
Environmental responsibility<\/h3>\n
In 2020, SoftServe created an environmental council that has already started the company’s path to a zero-waste strategy. The Council has launched a large-scale audit of all types of waste of the company, setting up the garbage processing system and disposal of hazardous waste in all offices. This unit is also developing approaches to reducing carbon emissions and reducing energy use. Shortly, SoftServe will integrate the statistics in terms of ecology and goals into the company’s business strategy for the coming years.<\/p>\n
This year, the company also became a member of the UN Global Compact. According to which ecology is one of the 11 key principles that the company will adhere to in its development and strategy. Since 2019, external and internal events conducted by the company have become low-waste – the company minimizes the amount of garbage at events and organizes its recycling. The company held seven educational campaigns among employees on garbage sorting and the popularization of environmentally friendly transport.<\/p>\n
