, which removes the discriminatory restriction on the import of samples of plant protection products for state testing and research only after confirmation of their registration in the country of production.<\/span><\/p>\nThe whole agrochemical market has been waiting for this event for more than five and a half years, as this restriction cost Ukrainian agriculture tens of billions of hryvnias in losses due to unharvested crops and a narrower and less innovative range of pest and disease control mechanisms compared to neighboring countries.<\/span><\/p>\nLess than a month has passed since the law came into force, but business is already noting the first results of its positive impact on agriculture. For example, the EBA Agrochemical Committee unites 9 major international producers of innovative CPPs which plan to start testing a range of new-generation products in the 2021- 2022 season.<\/span><\/p>\nThanks to the adoption of the Law, more than 70 innovative drugs are planned to start state tests and research this season. These are fundamentally new solutions that are safer from the point of view of human health and environmental protection, have lower consumption rates compared to existing drugs, and, consequently, lower residue levels.<\/span><\/p>\nIn the composition of these products, for the first time in many years, almost one and a half dozen new active substances and almost 40 new combinations of substances have appeared. Launching these products on the market is a significant event as innovative active substances and their combinations are the key to sustainable agriculture and the fight against pest and disease resistance.<\/span><\/p>\nIt is planned to register these drugs on most cereals and oilseeds (wheat, corn, barley, rapeseed, sunflower) and legumes (soybeans, peas), sugar beets, and potatoes.<\/span><\/p>\nBesides, the range of innovative drugs for so-called niche or minor crops will be significantly expanded. Thus, registration is planned for most stone fruits (apple, pear, peach, cherry, sweet cherry), rice, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, grapes, even hazelnuts. This is important because the lack of a wide range of high-quality and innovative products is one of the factors hindering the export of such crops, which directly slows down the development of these sectors.<\/span><\/p>\nIt should be noted that the adoption of the Law is also important from the point of view of the investment component. Already this season, investments in Ukrainian agrochemical science will grow by at least 30-50%. This will provide an opportunity to upgrade equipment and create new jobs for young scientists across the country. In addition, Ukrainian scientists will have the opportunity to work with the latest compounds on a par with their foreign counterparts, which will accelerate the implementation of modern standards for drug safety assessment.<\/span><\/p>\nThe agrochemical community welcomes the adoption of the Law and is ready to further develop sustainable agriculture in Ukraine and invest in its innovative component.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
