International agrochemical business, represented by the EBA Agrochemical Committee, appealed to the President of Ukraine to speed up the signing of draft Law \u21162289 “On Amendments to Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine” On Pesticides and Agrochemicals “on the import of pesticides into the customs territory of Ukraine” dated October 18, 2019, which was supported by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as a whole on June 30 this year.<\/p>\n
The adoption of the draft law is due to the urgent need to unblock research and state testing of innovative plant protection products, which have remained blocked for more than five years in a row.<\/p>\n
In the short and medium-term, the state registration and supply to the Ukrainian market of a range of innovative CPPs is expected, which will help increase yields, improve grain quality, and reduce pesticide loads on soils and crops. This, in turn, will have a positive impact on the competitiveness of Ukrainian grain in both domestic and foreign markets.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, given the seasonality of the agrochemical business, it is extremely important not to delay the entry into force of the draft law.<\/p>\n
Given the peculiarities of autumn sowing and the need to comply with all statutory procedures for the import and use of samples of innovative CPPs for state testing, it is extremely important that the draft law comes into force by September this year.<\/p>\n
