On March 23, 2021<\/strong>, we met at the Freight Forwarders Updates: “Challenges in the practice of container transportion”<\/strong>, organized by EBA in cooperation with AIFFU and supported by A2 Solutions in the mixed format of a live and online discussion on existing problems and challenges in the field of container transportation.<\/p>\n

Thus, they were affected by the cancellation of container flights at the beginning of the pandemic, and the unprecedented increase in rates for container traffic, which is still impossible to predict. Viktor Berestenko, President of the AIFFU and moderator of the meeting, stressed that it is extremely difficult for business to work in the such conditions. On the other hand, the industry has undergone positive technological changes, including: accelerated development of technological platforms for container lines, digitalization of document management and the introduction of other technologies to automate and optimize the process of container transportation.<\/p>\n

However, despite all the titanic shifts in the industry, in practice freight forwarders and other container operators still face a number of problems and obstacles that cannot be solved immediately. Therefore, the topics raised by the speakers of the discussion found a response among the participants. In particular, the future of the logistics industry was actively discussed in connection with the unprecedented growth of freight rates, the main barriers to the development of multimodal and intermodal transportation, introduction of new technologies on container line platforms, automated management and document management, operation of port information systems, container lines cargo products and services, simplification of procedures for registration of cargo at sea checkpoints, key legislative changes in Ukraine that may affect the market of logistics services, etc. In addition, the participants discussed the start of construction of an alternative road to the Odesa seaport, which is an important strategic object of port infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The representatives of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) and Odesa Department of USPA, Odesa Customs, container lines and terminals, freight forwarding and law firms took participation in disscussion.<\/p>\n
