Starting from 2019, businesses are focusing on the importance of developing non-cash payments in educational institutions.<\/p>\n
In May 2020, the European Business Association addressed the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health with proposals to introduce the possibility of cashless payment as an alternative method of payment for meals in all educational institutions, as soon as currently, this possibility exists only in a few educational institutions. The Association’s proposal was supported by the state institutions, and the community was invited to join the Working Group on Improving School Nutrition, established under the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture.<\/p>\n
Additionally, initiated by the EBA Electronic Payments Committee, a business meeting was held at the end of July with representatives of the project team of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, MES, MOH, and MEDTA, where representatives of Mastercard and Privatbank \u2013 member companies of the Committee shared information on project implementation on the development of non-cash payments in Ukrainian schools.<\/p>\n
The order of the Cabinet of Ministers of August 5 approved a plan of measures to reform the school nutrition system. In accordance with the previously reached agreements, the experts of the EBA Electronic Payments Committee took part in the development and discussion of draft regulations, which should be approved in 2020.<\/p>\n
During the meetings of the Working Group, representatives of business and government agencies reached an unequivocal agreement on the importance and expediency of consolidating at the national level the possibility of providing consumers with an alternative cash method of payment in educational institutions.<\/p>\n
As a result of fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture and business representatives, with the involvement of AMCU specialists, a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On approval of norms and procedures for nutrition in educational institutions and children’s health and recreation facilities ” was published for public discussion.<\/p>\n
This draft regulatory act includes proposals submitted by experts of the Electronic Payments Committee of the Association.<\/p>\n
The European Business Association welcomes the openness of government agencies to the dialogue in order to improve the nutrition system in Ukrainian schools, taking into account business proposals. We hope that by the end of 2020 every schoolchild will have the opportunity, if necessary, to pay cashless for meals in school canteens and cafeterias.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
