It is commercially available as Closer\u2122 insecticide.<\/p>\n<p>It estimated that failure to use these new products could result in millions of euros of lost production value in 2020, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>An 18% decrease for dessert apples <\/strong>(range -12%\/-24%) amounting to more than \u20ac1billion losses<\/li>\n<li><strong>A 34% decrease for peaches<\/strong> (range -28%\/-41%), amounting to \u20ac1.2billion losses<\/li>\n<li><strong>A 33% decrease for greenhouse tomatoes<\/strong> (range -27%\/-40%), amounting to \u20ac1.6billion losses<\/li>\n<li><strong>A 10% decrease for potatoes<\/strong> (range -7%\/-14%), amounting to \u20ac1.3billion losses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are proud to present our solutions to Fruit Logistica visitors,\u201d<\/em> said <strong>Sonia Cavanna<\/strong>, Corteva Agriscience Global Food Chain Technical Expert and European Food Chain Leader. <em>\u201cBy sharing our expertise and collaborating with value chain players, we help farmers enhance profitability, retailers and food industries secure a safe and reliable supply of crops and support consumer interests by empowering choice.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis study was commissioned to understand the potential of this innovative product, as part of our efforts to foster the environmental and economic sustainability of key crops in European agriculture. As a global leader in the sector, we are committed to supporting farmers in tackling emergencies arising from new pests and climate change while ensuring a profitable yield, and to meeting consumer demand for more sustainable food.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ersilia Di Tullio<\/strong>, Project Leader at Nomisma, adds: <em>\u201cWe selected the key producer countries for each crop, with the presence of main sap-feeding pests controlled by Isoclast (aphids, scales and whiteflies) estimated at country level over the medium term (2022). We also took into account the presence of viruses vectored by these pests, if causing relevant damage.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe then simulated the impact scenario for the commercial production of each crop by 2022, showing the effects of reduced efficacy of the protection portfolio, without the entry of new insecticides like Isoclast into the market.
