Customs infrastructure issues, traffic flow patterns, situation with the Single Window, lack of permits for international transportation were discussed by business representatives in Lviv region during a meeting of the EBA Western Ukrainian Office Customs Committee with acting Head of the Lviv Customs Yevhen Safonov<\/strong> and Pavlo Makedon<\/strong>, the Deputy Chief, on September 4.<\/p>\n Thus, in terms of infrastructure, all parties understand that there is a long-standing need for reconstruction of road crossing points and repairing of access roads. Therefore, Yevhen Safonov said that in 2 years a separate point should be built at Krakivets for passenger transport, and a complete reconstruction will take place at Shehyni. The road to Hrushiv is also expected to be repaired since this border crossing point is well upgraded and can offload other points.<\/p>\n According to customs officials, in the context of border crossings, the Ukrainian and Polish officials signed a Memorandum on the of cars that pass the border on each checkpoint. Also, in order to accelerate the border crossing, the pilot project “Electronic Queue” is being considered.<\/p>\n Regarding the organization of the Single Window customs work, the Association\u2019s companies still have no comments on the work of the customs, but the uncoordinated work of related services and the lack of technical equipment of their employees negates the great idea.<\/p>\n In the context of logistics, the lack of permits for international transportation for Ukrainian logistic companies has become a serious threat this year, as companies cannot deliver their goods to their foreign partners in time. Such situation significantly harms the reputation of both Ukrainian and foreign manufacturers operating in Ukraine. According to Yevhen Safonov, the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland recently met in Warsaw to discuss the issue, and there would be an additional meeting arranged in late September.<\/p>\n At the same time, the companies discussed the possibility of organizing a single line for tax free cars from Poland to Ukraine, in order to strengthen the control of smuggling. Companies have also suggested customs officials to rotate their employees within one post automatically as for example their Polish colleagues do.
