The CMU has adopted the National Strategy on Waste Management. The Strategy was elaborated with the participation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, as well as with the leading international experts of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the German Federal Company GIZ . This document is the result of many years work on Ukraines approach to a comprehensive solid waste management system and reflects the best experience of the EU member states and is in line with the provisions of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and their countries members on the other side. The Associations experts took direct part in the work of the expert subgroups created by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and submitted their proposals to the Draft Strategy, namely that the increased responsibility of the producer, based on the separate collection of solid waste, would be determined in the Strategy as the main method of household waste management in Ukraine. We are grateful to the Government for taking into account the business point of view!
