Consumer Electronics, Taxes

03/ 12/ 2014
On 27 November 2014, some Draft Laws the EBA lobbied against were withdrawn from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in line with the Parliament’s Regalement: Taxation and Consumer Electronics: • Draft Law “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine (concerning introduction of a tax on manufacturers and importers of packaging and packaged goods for processing of solid waste)” № 2611a from 18 July 2013 It was aimed at solving the problem of waste accumulation. However, suggested amendments might lead to double taxation and a significant rise in production costs. The Association emphasized that instead of the introduction of such a levy, it is necessary to develop an effective system of waste management harmonised with the EU approach. We express our sincere gratitude to the EBA member-companies that were involved in the process of the withdrawal of the aforementioned Draft Laws. The Association will continue to advocate the interests of our members as well as to facilitate the introduction and implementation of relevant reforms to ensure business growth in Ukraine.
