Agricultural sector is of crucial importance for the Ukrainian economy as it guarantees constant budget inflow. During the economic crisis, this sector of the economy both did not reduced its growth rates as well as also continued its development and increased its volumes. The last marketing year ended with a record grain exports that reached more than 40 mio tons. For several consecutive seasons, there has been a steady tendency to increase the volumes of crops resulting in an increase in grain exports: Ukraine has an outstanding potential for the agrarian sector and claims to be the world leader in grain production. According to forecasts, in 2020 grain exports may reach 60-70 mio tons. Accordingly, stability and predictability of grain exports is a priority for our state and one of the main factors of both national and food security. During the last seven years, one of the main factors in preserving the balance between domestic grain consumption and export opportunities is Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine (the Ministry) and Economic Entities-Grain Exporters (MoU). This year MoU was signed on 28 July that, in fact, inaugurated the beginning of the new marketing year. However, coordination of export volumes takes place later within annexes to MoU. We are happy to inform you, that Annex I to MoU with coordinated export volumes for wheat was signed on 18_ October (with possible reconsideration of nonfood wheat in January 2018) with the following agreed figures: Total wheat exports – 16,5 mio t Food wheat exports – 10,7 mio t Nonfood wheat exports – 5,8 mio t This document shall ensure transparency and flexibility of grain export issues that are considered to be important factors for successful export activities. The EBA would like to extend its gratitude to the Ministry for efficient cooperation with the leading grain market players of Ukraine!
