  On 21 October, 2011 the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov signed the Resolution of CMU On approval of the action plan to identify priority areas of education development in information technology in 2013 developed within the working group led by the Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Social Policy Serhiy Tihipko together with EBA IT Committee representatives, government officials and delegates of Ukraines premier higher universities. The concept and the blueprints of IT education reform were presented by EBA IT Committee on 21 September 2011 in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, the Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Social Policy Serhiy Tihipko, representatives of several ministries and higher institutions. As the market demand for highly qualified IT specialists still lags behind the actual current number of professionals, EBA IT Committee proposed to give businesses an opportunity to participate in the formation of a state order for higher institutions thus rebalancing the supply and demand of qualified IT workforce. For better functioning of IT education system EBA IT Committee members have also proposed to create a special interagency coordinating council with the involvement of authorities, IT companies and universities associations, to develop a system of IT graduates competences evaluation, and to update IT jobs nomenclature. The novelties proposed are tailored to identify the challenges IT human capital faces, to promote the benefits and the potential of IT among youth, to finetune the system of higher IT education and to satisfy the demand of IT businesses in qualified professionals. All suggestions, ideas and reasoning provided by the representatives of EBA IT Committee were approved, adopted and embodied into the wording of the Resolution On approval of the action plan to identify priority areas of education development in information technology in 2013. The EBA is particularly pleased to share this success important for EBA IT Committee member companies, who have been actively working on this initiative. We will further continue implementing the action plan outlined in the aforementioned resolution.
