On 19 September EBA Consumer Electronics Committee representatives participated in a round table: “Which Internet shops violate Ukrainian legislation and trade rules?”
The results of investigation that were presented during this event showed that only 7 from the 20 largest online stores in Ukraine provided fiscal checks to consumers, thus complying with the rules of the current legislation.
EBA experts agreed that the problem of import of electronics with violation of legislation is very important and stressed that volume of this import reaches 20%.
Among possible solutions we proposed the following steps:
- State control over the implementation of legislative norms regarding obligation to use cash registers in case of selling electronics
- State control over observance by all business entities of legislation on consumer protection and on e-commerce
- Adoption of Draft Law No. 6754, which will oblige online shops to provide on theirs web-sites information that will help to identify the seller and establish responsibility for the lack of this data.
We are glad that State Fiscal Service of Ukraine and Food Safety and Consumers Protection Inspection support our position and are ready to cooperate aimed to solve problem with illegal import in Ukraine.
