International Online-Lecture: State Aid in Ukraine: What is Important for Business to Know. Date: 07 February2024. Time: 11:00 12:30. Language: English, Ukrainian. Fee free of charge. Place: Will be online. The EU-Ukraine Association Agreement established the obligation of Ukraine to implement an effective State Aid governance system and the relevant legislative framework. Based on this, the Law of Ukraine No. 1555-VII On State Aid to Undertakings dated 01.07.2014 (the “State Aid Law”) was adopted. In addition to the law, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (the “AMCU”) has developed a significant number of by-laws regarding regulation and control in the State Aid field (further approved by the relevant ministries). The development of the State Aid system in Ukraine is continuing also in view of the changing European rules. It is crucial that the Ukrainian business community as potential recipients of State Aid understand the key rules and peculiarities of the State Aid system in Ukraine, the burden of recovering State Aid in case of unlawful and incompatible aid, the scope of powers and the order of interaction with the AMCU in this regard. Even though the State Aid Law is partially suspended for the duration of martial law in Ukraine, the end of the war will mark a new round of development of the State Aid system in Ukraine considering high levels of business losses from war and business needs for public support.  That is why PWC and Lexxion have teamed up to set up a series of events to inform and train the Ukrainian Business Community on the different aspects of European State aid Law. Speakers: Oksana Chabanyuk, Director of Department for State Aid Monitoring and Control of the AMCU. Stefan Sabau, the Team Leader of the Project “Competition and State Aid Rules Alignment with EU Acquis” (COMPASA). Péter Staviczky, State Aid Expert. Zuzana Palkechova, PwC Slovakia, Incentives & Investment Projects Team Leader. Valeryia Drabinovich, PwC Slovakia, State Aid Manager. Topics under discussion: What is State Aid?
