However, this first incarnation challenges us in new ways and will quickly evolve, in terms of technology, impact on society, work, intellectual property, creative industries, and the economy. The First Golden Age of AI The AI available currently are surprisingly facile with language, shockingly capable of summary, yet ultimately simple compared to what they will breed. Current AI suffer challenges we have yet to address: intellectual property, the technocratic voice, accelerated mediocrity. Current AI will regress to a mean of textual and visual expression. Current AI looks “smart” but will get dumber before growing insightful again. We think of AI as point services or authority—and even “truth,” for some.
