October 12, 2008. On October 9 through 12, Yalta hosted a seminar on land issues “Land Law: legislative framework and judicial practice”.

The seminar gathered in-house lawyers of the leading Ukrainian companies. The majority of the participants represented the companies in agricultural and energy sectors.

SAYENKO KHARENKO counsel Igor Sukhomudrenko was invited to speak on one of the most problematic issues – jurisdiction of disputes over land plot allocation. His presentation discussed the following topics: challenging the decisions of local authorities on land plot allocation and the jurisdiction of said disputes; grounds for challenging and/or cancelling the decisions of local authorities on land plot allocation, land plot division, etc.

Mr. Sukhomudrenko’s presentation was built on case-study and round-table discussions of the most representatives real court cases.

Other speakers included E. Pershykov, judge of the High Economic Court of Ukraine; P. Kulinich, representative of the Institute for Land and Environmental Law; practicing attorneys and CEOs of Ukrainian enterprises.

Participants had a chance to discuss other legal issues and receive professional advice.

The organizers, information centre “Svitoglyad”, stressed that the workshop proved a useful discussion panel for the participants and expressed gratitude to the speakers for taking the time to share their knowledge and experience.
