On May 30, the FOYIL Group opened its first representative office in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk. The grand opening was held at 79 Karl Marx Prospect under the sign of FOYIL Investments.

“We’ve known investors from Dnipropetrovsk for several years now,” Director General of FOYIL Securities Oleksandr Sandul said at the opening ceremony. “Until now, for them to invest money into securities safely and with a quality broker, they always had to come to Kyiv. Since FOYIL created its own brand of domestic mutual funds [in 2006], local investors have shown a keen interest in them, and so realizing that it was inconvenient for them to interact with us from such a distance, FOYIL decided to open its first affiliate in this very city.”

The FOYIL Group’s new office will provide Dnipropetrovsk residents with the opportunity to:

Before opening its first branch office, FOYIL Securities conducted a local survey, asking the questions: 1) how much do you know about investment funds and the stock market; 2) what services would be in the greatest demand among Dnipropetrovsk residents.

“Our assumptions were confirmed,” Mr. Sandul stated, commenting on the survey. “The majority of Dnipropetrovsk’s residents know little about investing, although we found a narrow but very progressive group that has been deeply analyzing the stock market for several years now. For them, mutual investment funds and corporate investment funds are working instruments that bring revenues many times higher than the interest on bank deposits.”

The new FOYIL office will provide these potential clients with the maximum amount of expert research and consultation. At the same time, every week branch officers will hold free seminars for those just starting to learn about stocks and investment funds, the most recent of which was held on May 29.

“The typical questions heard at the seminars tend to be specific and direct. For example, ‘How much will this earn me?’ People demand clear and concise information about where and how funds earn profits, and how losses may happen. Also, people are actively searching for information about the company. This is all very good, as it suggest a greater degree of seriousness towards investment issues than we saw in the early 1990s, when the investment market was unregulated,” Mr. Sandul said.
