Kyiv, 19 May 2008. 15 years ago, on 19 May 1993, the National Bank of Ukraine governed at that time by Viktor Yushchenko registered and granted a banking license to Credit Lyonnais Ukraine, first time ever such licence was granted to the subsidiary of a Western bank. Credit Lyonnais Ukraine was renamed in 2004 into Calyon Bank Ukraine after the friendly takeover of Credit Lyonnais by Credit Agricole and the decision to name its corporate and investment banking arm - Calyon. Back in 1993 for Credit Lyonnais it was not a new start, but rather a comeback. From 1892 to 1920 there was a Credit Lyonnais branch in Odessa.
Today, its 15 years of presence, 4 more years of experience than of any other western bank in an environment where experience is a key, makes Calyon Bank Ukraine the foreign bank of reference as provider of westernised banking services.
