  Legal background: Currently the Government Resolution N1599 “On Approval of Description and Rules of Application of National Conformity Mark” from 29 November 2001 (Resolution 1599) is in force in Ukraine. Paragraph 2 of Article 29 of the Law of Ukraine “On Technical Regulations and Conformity Assessment” N124-VIII from 15 January 2015 provides that the form and description of the national conformity mark has to be established by the Government. The Government Resolution “On Approval of Form, Description and Conditions of Application of National Conformity Mark” N1184 from 30 December 2015 (Resolution N1184) was officially published on 22 January 2016 and will enter into force on 10 February 2016. In this regard, Resolution N1599 will expire. Initially there were plans to change the form of the national conformity mark in order to eliminate overlaps with a mark of conformity of the state certification system (UkrSEPRO). The business community was strongly against the change of the form of the national conformity mark and successfully defended its position.
