The tradition of EBA Round Table Sessions began in 2006. These sessions are arranged specially for top and senior management of EBA member companies. They are aimed at transmitting issues of concern directly to a responsible official and to proposing a company’s vision on resolving these problems.

Round Table Sessions offer a midday opportunity to network which is more convenient for business schedules of EBA members and invited gests.

There are three types of EBA Round Table Sessions: “On Political Issues”, “On Economic Issues” and “On EU-Ukraine Development Issues”. They differ by topic and guest speakers, who are: political scientists for the first type, government authorities for the second and EU official representatives for the third. As a professional expert in Ukraine’s investment environment and as the leading business association, the EBA took part in a number of government round table discussions. As a rule, the EBA holds its sessions for EBA members only.

LATEST EVENT UPDATE

The Round Table was held on 1 October in the EBA Kyiv office concerning the implantation mechanism of the energy efficiency projects in Ukraine. It was chaired by the Committee Chairman - Andriy Lemekh.

The quest speakers of the Round Table were:

• Mr. Hennadiy Fareniuk, Head of the State Scientific-Research Construction Institute of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction
• Mr. Volodymyr Umanets, Representative of the National Agency on Energy Efficient Use
• Mr. Oleksandr Filonenko, World Bank in Ukraine
• Mr. Anatoliy Kopets, Executive Director of the Association of Energy Effective Cities in Ukraine
• Mr. Arsen Nizelsky, Representative of IFC

During the meeting the EBA Mineral Wool Insulation Committee presented its view on Energy Efficiency of Constructions and Methods for Acceding High Level of Energy Efficiency.

The participants of the Round Table agreed that one of instruments to approach energy efficiency was insulation of buildings. However, there were number of barriers of successful implementation of the energy efficient projects were outlined, in particular:

• drawbacks in legislation and regulatory environment;
• lack of economic incentives for entities interested in energy efficient projects;
• low financial credibility of the projects beneficiaries;
• etc.

This Round Table was a first step for comprehensive public discussion on energy efficiency in Ukraine.
