EBA General Membership Meetings serve as one of the main means for the EBA members to enhance their dialogue with the Ukrainian and European government officials. Such meetings are specially arranged for top and senior management of the EBA member companies, to give them a possibility to transmit their issues of concern directly to a responsible official as well as suggest their vision on solving these problems. Speakers usually include representatives of Cabinet of Ministers or Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

We are proud that top officials of the Ukrainian Government are open to direct communication with the EBA members, and that the EBA General Membership Meetings become a very efficient start of streamlined communication with the government for many EBA members.

In addition, the EBA holds its General meetings with the European Commission officials and heads of international organisations for the EBA members to receive professional update on development of the EU-Ukraine relations and on the economy and investment climate in Ukraine.

The EBA Regional Branches in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa and Zhytomyr are active in arranging regular General Membership Meetings for the EBA members as well. This activity allows EBA member companies in regions of Ukraine to set up and maintain efficient cooperation with local authorities, receive updates on respective issues from Ambassadors of European countries to Ukraine, EC Delegation to Ukraine and Belarus, learn more about trends and development of various markets etc.

LATEST EVENT REPORT

The EBA would like to thank Mrs Adina-Ioana Valean MEP for meeting with its members on Saturday 6 February 2010. Mrs Valean was in Ukraine as part of the European Unions election monitoring delegation and took time from her busy schedule to meet and discuss the elections and the business climate in Ukraine.

Mrs Valean has been an MEP since 2007 and, as well as sitting on the EU/Ukraine Parliamentary Committee, she also sits on the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy.

The meeting was incredibly productive and provided a forum for the EBA members to discuss their thoughts and opinions directly with an elected representative of the European Parliament. Mrs Valean’s knowledge and interest in both industry and in this region and the input from our members and business leaders made for an interesting and constructive dialogue and the EBA looks forward to creating ever-closer relationships with the EU institutions in the future.

The EBA extends its gratitude to Mrs Valean and to those members who participated in the meeting. The event was hosted at and supported by the staff of Opera Hotel, Kiev who helped to make the event such a success.
