The tradition of EBA Business Morning Meetings began in 2006. These meetings are arranged specially for the top management of EBA member companies as well as for their experts and are aimed at providing an opportunity for them to meet with top government officials to discuss issues of interest to them.

EBA Business Mornings start at 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. as this is more convenient for the business schedules of EBA members and invited keynote speakers. As a rule, EBA Business Morning Meetings involve a smaller number of participants who are leaders of EBA member companies for whom this meeting format represents a possibility for more detailed discussions with guest speakers than the EBA General Membership Meetings.

The European Business Association usually holds its Business Mornings with the mass media in the form of ‘open events’ on a quarterly basis and out of office. Participation by representatives of the mass media is subject to mandatory accreditation.

In 2007-2008 the guest speakers of the EBA Business Morning and their topics for discussions were:

• Head of Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (February 2007) Mr Oleksiy Kostusev, ‘Current problems and priorities to focus on for the sake of improving the competitive environment and creating a favourable investment climate in Ukraine’;
• ‘Answers to appeals by EBA members on the most urgent and important issues’;
• Head of the EC Delegation to Ukraine and Belarus Mr Ian Boag, ‘Annual EU-Ukraine Summit (held in Kyiv) and progress in EU-Ukraine relations’;
• Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (January 2008) Mr Volodymyr Ogryzko, ‘Ukraine’s prospects of membership in European and international organizations’.
