The EBA Real Estate Committee has been established in early 2004.

In 2004 the Committee prepared Handy Guide to Land Ownership in Ukraine which is serving as a helpful tool to foreign investors.

The EBA Real Estate Committee cooperates with the Legal Committee on settling certain issues. Thus in March, 2007 by common efforts of both Committees there was elaborated the Analytical Review IN CLOSE UP: Land property rights. This document is intended to examine the issues of acquiring ownership rights to nonagricultural land plots by foreign investors and to offer practical recommendations on solving these issues, in particular, by introducing amendments to the applicable Ukrainian legislation.

In December, 2007 at the round table devoted to the Ukrainian Real Estate Market Forecast for 2008 the following EBA member companies presented their vision: Cushman & Wakefield, DTZ, I-kon International Investment Group, Knight Frank Ukraine, NAI Pickard and NEST. The Committee Chairmanship 2010 was elected on 23 November 2009:

• Chair – Oleg Alyoshin, Partner with Vasil Kisil & Partners;
• Vice-Chair - Johann Karner, General Director, Raiffeisen Evolution Project Development.

The following priorities of Committee activity were defined for 2010 year:

• Contribute to improvement of legislative background for infrastructure development;
• Enhancement of regulations applied to registration of property right to objects under construction;
• Lobby for introduction of alternative ways for financing construction (mortgage bonds, etc);
• Lobby for clear regulation of prolongation and renewal of land lease agreements (exact procedures timings, list of documents).

The Committee meets every second Thursday of the month, at 5 p.m.
